About this Event
The stylus of the record player is one of the critical functions of the device. It's what makes or breaks the sound quality and health of the vinyl. This presentation explores the different types of styli, their composition, and functions. It is concluded that there are four main stylus shapes: spherical, elliptical, hyperelliptical, micro-ridge. The shape (and construction) of the stylus, contributes to how well it replicates sound from your record.
