Novelist Mesha Maren
Visiting writer Mesha Maren ’14, a graduate of the Queens MFA Program, returns to Queens to discuss her recently published book as part of the English and Creative Writing Department Reading Series.
Maren’s first published book, Sugar Run, was described by Kirkus Reviews as an “impressive first novel [that] combines beautifully crafted language and a steamy Southern noir plot to fine effect.”
Maren is a recipient of the Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize and the 2018-2019 Kenan Visiting Writer at UNC Chapel Hill. She serves as a National Endowment of the Arts Writing Fellow at the Beckley Federal Correctional Institution. Her short stories and essays appear in Tin House, Oxford American, Crazyhorse and Southern Cultures.
