About this Event
Maddalena Casulana was a prodigious female composer in the late 16th century, when it was rare to see women in the field. Claudio Monteverdi was known as one of the greatest madrigal composers of the late Renaissance. Works by Casulana and Monteverdi will be compared, attempting to discern similarities and differences in their approach to composition and why they were so profound.
