The History Department, with support from DICE and the Chaplain's Office, is delighted to welcome Monique Douglas to campus as part of the Preyer Lecture Series, which this year is focused on Charlotte's history. Douglas is the Executive Director of the nonprofit the Brooklyn Collective, an organization dedicated to inclusivity and upward mobility, celebrating culture, artistry, and preservation of the black history that its historic buildings represent. She will be speaking about the history of the Brooklyn neighborhood and her experiences preserving its history and honoring its legacies. Please join us on October 22nd for a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. preceding Douglas's lecture at 6:30 p.m. in the Greenhoot Recital Hall.
